Ecofeminism a branch of feminism, highlights the link between the oppression of women and the exploitation of the environment. Taking ideas from feminist social movements, ecofeminism demands the mutual liberation of women and nature, and criticizes the masculine culture that results in environmental destruction. In Indonesia, this movement emerged as a reaction to restrictions on women in development and mitigating negative environmental impacts. In this context, women are recognized as the guardians of nature who are most affected by environmental damage. Support through policies issued by the Government of Indonesia in the Law on Environmental Protection and Management shows the importance of women's role in environmental protection and preservation, although gender challenges still exist. The ecofeminism movement plays a role in supporting environmental justice, by highlighting local wisdom and the importance of women's participation in natural resource management, as well as emphasizing the need for a change in mindset in the face of an increasingly urgent human and natural crisis.
