Abstract: Emergency surgical nursing stands at the confluence of urgency and precision, requiring nurses to respond rapidly while adhering strictly to clinical guidelines. It involves complex decision-making, quick prioritization, and strict adherence to perioperative care protocols. The unpredictable nature of surgical emergencies, often involving life-threatening conditions, demands that nurses be exceptionally skilled, alert, and emotionally resilient. This review explores the core domains of preparedness, prioritization, and protocols within the sphere of emergency surgical nursing. The paper delves into the skills required, the environments in which such care is delivered, common emergencies, and the evidence-based practices that guide professional responses. The discussion also addresses the challenges nurses face in this setting, including high-stress levels, ethical dilemmas, and resource constraints. By drawing on contemporary guidelines and empirical literature, this review underscores the importance of advanced training, interprofessional collaboration, and ongoing evaluation to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and patient safety.
