
This paper reviews components of rail vehicles in which composite materials have been employed successfully to date and those in which they are most likely to be exploited in the near future. Specific references are made to some of today's rail vehicles in which composites are employed routinely for the fabrication of complex three-dimensional moulded profiles and high stiffness-to-weight ratio paneling for cab ends and vehicle interiors
