This article summarizes an analysis of how early English language learning affects the cognitive development of primary school children. Given the importance of English globally, early exposure is seen as a crucial foundation for future learning and social engagement, boosting cognitive skills and communication. Key findings highlight significant cognitive benefits, including better executive functions, improved memory and problem-solving, increased creativity, and enhanced vocabulary and pronunciation. It is thought that this leverages critical periods for language acquisition. The review recommends integrating early English into primary curricula and calls for more research on the best age to start, effective teaching methods, and impacts in different contexts.
