El enfoque STEM en la formación de competencias investigativas y del pensamiento crítico en Educación Superior

Abstract

En un entorno dinámico, determinado por la rápida y constante evolución de las tecnologías, se presentan nuevas demandas sociales, que requieren de personal capacitado para brindar soluciones y afrontar problemas complejos desde perspectivas críticas e interdisciplinares. Atendiendo a lo anterior, la investigación tuvo por objetivo analizar el impacto del enfoque STEM en el desarrollo de competencias investigativas en estudiantes y docentes de educación superior. Para ello, se aplicó una metodología cuantitativa, descriptiva y longitudinal. Los hallazgos indican que el desarrollo de competencias investigativas es favorecido ampliamente por la aplicación del enfoque STEM, al dar muestras de pensamiento crítico, creatividad y responsabilidad. Asimismo, la implementación de tecnologías y metodologías activas, mejora el aprendizaje, así como la articulación de conocimientos teóricos y prácticos, sin que esto signifique que no existan problemas y barreras que afrontar. Se concluyó que el enfoque STEM mejora las competencias investigativas e impulsa las transformaciones educativas del siglo XXI.
