Science Case Name Multi-Hazards in Senegal. Dataset Name/Title Fire Probability Index (FPI) – Tambacounda, Senegal, 1999-2024 Dataset Description The dataset contains gridded data on FPI over Tambacounda area of Senegal. Key Methodologies FPI is computed from the fuel moisture content (FMC) and vegetation conent (VC) (Huesca et al., 2009). FMC is a function of the relative humidity of air (RH), air temperature, and extinction moisture content (EMC) of the fuel (also named as extinction humidity). The shape of the relationship is linear or quadratic, depending on the RH class. VC is computed from NDVI as the relative greenness, further normalized to the maximum possible VC (computed assuming NDVI equals 1). Temporal Domain 1999-2024, dekadal (10-daily) Spatial Domain Tambacounda, Senegal, West Africa Spatial resolution 1 km x 1 km, ca 0.01°x0.01° (EPGS:4326) Key Variables/Indicators Spatio-temporal clusters of heatwave events Data Format ENVI files Source Data ERA5-Land daily average air temperature and relative humidity Copernicus land monitoring dekadal NDVI Accessibility Zenodo, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15212768 Stakeholder Relevance Identifying and assessing past heatwave events for multi-hazard events monitoring, prediction and preparedness. Limitations/Assumptions Two levels of extinction moisture contents (EMC) were used (15% and 40%) because the true value is not known. Additional Outputs/information The dataset access is currently restricted due to pending related publication.
