2.2. Myrcia vellozoi Mazine, nom. nov. Replaced synonym: Myrtus racemosa Vellozo (1829: 213). Marlierea racemosa (Vell.) Kiaerskou (1893: 51). Type:— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro, Iconograph, Vellozo (1831: tabula 60; neotype, designated here). Epitype (designated here):— BRAZIL, Rio de Janeiro, Glaziou 11996 (K!). Distribution:— Bahia to Paraná. Note:—The specific epithet is derived from the name of the author who published the species in Myrtus, Vellozo. Vellozo (1831: tab. 60) published the illustration of this species after the protologue; for this reason we designate a neotype rather than a lectotype.
