Carbon Capture für eine klimaneutrale Abfallwirtschaft (Technology Talk)

Abstract

Zur Erreichung der Klimaneutralität braucht es unterschiedliche Maßnahmen. In manchen Industrieprozessen können die Treibhausgas Emissionen nicht vollständig vermieden werden. Dort besteht aber die grundsätzliche Möglichkeit, nicht-reduzierbare CO2-Emissionen abzuscheiden, zu transportieren, geologisch zu speichern oder so weiter zu nutzen, dass sie permanent gebunden sind. Die im Juni 2024 beschlossene österreichische Carbon Management Strategie (CMS) sieht als Empfehlung die Zulassung der geologischen Speicherung von schwer beziehungsweise nicht vermeidbaren CO2-Emissionen in "hard-to-abate"-Sektoren unter strengen Sicherheits- und Umweltauflagen vor. Es stellen sich Fragen der organisatorischen, technologischen und wirtschaftlichen Umsetzbarkeit sowie der Ausgestaltung der gesetzlichen Rahmenbedingungen. Der NEFI Technology Talk des OÖ Energiesparverbandes präsentierte und diskutierte am 3. April 2025 wichtige technische, ökonomische und rechtliche Aspekte zum Thema CCUS sowie unterschiedliche Sichtweisen rund um die Infrastruktur, Nutzung und allfällige Verspeicherung von schwer oder nicht vermeidbaren CO2-Emissionen. NEFI+ ist die österreichische Innovations-Plattform zur Transformation der Industrie in Richtung Klimaneutralität. Die NEFI Technology Talks sind eine Veranstaltungsreihe, die sich aktuellen technischen und systemischen Fragestellungen rund um die industrielle Energiewende widmet.
