Conducted as part of the TDCC-NES roadmap and supported by the Dutch Research Council (NWO), the study explores how research software is developed, maintained, and supported across institutions and disciplines. The report covers survey findings on roles and responsibilities, budgeting practices, time allocation, and career recognition, and highlights striking differences across research fields. Recommendations focus on institutional recognition, funding policy changes, and long-term support strategies for sustainable research software. This study is part of the project Financing Sustainable Research Software (NWO file number ICT.TDCC.002.002).
