Evaluación del impacto de los medios sociales sobre la salud de los y las adolescentes

Abstract

El propósito de este trabajo es revisar el estado actual del tema y hacer un análisis del impacto que los medios y redes sociales puedan tener sobre la salud de la población adolescente. La evidencia muestra que, aunque los medios o redes sociales facilitan la comunicación y el aprendizaje, también pueden generar problemas de salud mental, adicción, desarrollo ineficiente de la sexualidad o ciberacoso, entre otros. Además, se observa que la exposición constante a estas tecnologías puede influir en la percepción de la imagen corporal y la autoestima de los y las adolescentes. Todo ello, contextualizado en una importante falta de percepción de estos riesgos. Por ello, es esencial el desarrollo de estrategias y normativas que orienten el uso de las tecnologías y medios sociales de manera que maximicen los beneficios y minimicen los riesgos.
