La Evolución Espacio-Temporal de "Malls chinos" en el Continuo Urbano-Rural en la Región del Ñuble, Chile

Abstract

En años recientes, ha llamado la atención el rápido crecimiento de los "malls chinos" en Chile, con especial atención a su expansión temporal y espacial desde las áreas urbanas a las rurales. En diversos reportajes, se ha destacado en general la llegada de los "malls chinos" como una amenaza para negocios locales y familiares o como una oportunidad para las y los residentes locales en términos de ofrecer productos variados a precios accesibles. Sin embargo, los análisis existentes se han centrado en las grandes áreas metropolitanas como Santiago, y se han realizado pocos estudios en profundidad o detalle en áreas rurales o urbano-rurales. Además, falta aún una definición operativa de "malls chinos" a pesar de su diversidad en términos de estética, ubicación, estrategia de expansión y organización empresarial. A través de un estudio de método mixto (cualitativo y cuantitativo), este informe de caso busca definir y describir las características económicas y geográficas de los "malls chinos" en la región de Ñuble como proyecto piloto para contribuir a un modelo interdisciplinario para abordar el tema. Además, se examinará cómo han evolucionado espacial y temporalmente los "malls chinos" en el continuo urbano-rural de la región de Ñuble, Chile.
