The OIS Impact Model

Abstract

Die OIS Wirkungslogik Offene, transdisziplinäre und partizipative Ansätze in der Forschung lösen Veränderungsprozesse auf das Bewusstsein, Verhalten und die Lebensumstände aller Beteiligten aus. Insbesondere sollen diese Ansätze dazu führen, dass näher an den Bedürfnissen der Gesellschaft geforscht wird und die Forschung von betroffenen Gruppen eher aufgegriffen und angewandt wird. Gemeinsam mit einer Vielzahl von Interessensgruppen (Vertreter:innen von Forschung, Zivilgesellschaft, OIS-Praxis, Forschungsförderung, Medien und Politik) haben wir die verschiedenen Wege sichtbar gemacht, die aufzeigen, welche Veränderungen durch die Einbindung von Bürger:innen in die Forschung auftreten sollen. Diese Veränderungen – sogenannte Wirkungselemente – zeigen auf, wie OIS in der Forschung wirkt. Jedes Wirkungselement der OIS Wirkungslogik enthält konkrete Definitionen, welche Veränderung bei welcher Personengruppe stattfinden sollte. Nicht alle Wirkungselemente sind für alle OIS-Projekte unbedingt relevant. Die OIS Wirkungslogik soll dabei helfen, die für das Projekt relevanten Wirkungselemente auszusuchen. Somit kann ein zugeschnittener Wirkungspfad erstellt werden, der zeigt, durch welche Veränderungen das jeweilige Projekt wirken soll. Zudem beinhaltet jedes Wirkungselement Vorschläge, wie man überprüfen kann, ob die gewünschten Veränderungen auch wirklich auftreten. Mehr dazu in den OIS Reflexionstools. Open, collaborative, and participative practices trigger complex change processes that lead to societal impact. Together with a diverse set of stakeholders, we set out to make these different pathways to impact visible, explicit, and tangible. The co-creatively developed OIS Impact Model shows how Open Innovation in Science (OIS) initiatives for involvement and engagement should be designed and what effects they could have on personal awareness and competencies, behavior and life circumstances of all those involved. The change elements of the OIS Impact Model display concrete definitions and stakeholders that are affected by each element. They are filled with examples of how the different change elements can be assessed. The model can be used as a planning tool: research project teams can identify the key change elements they aspire to influence with their OIS initiative and set up appropriate assessment mechanisms throughout and at the end of the research project.
