Abstract

Der generativen Künstlichen Intelligenz (KI), die auf Trainingsdaten basierende Texte, Bilder und verschiedene andere Inhalte produzieren kann, wird ein großer Einfluss auf den wissenschaftlichen Forschungsprozess im Allgemeinen prognostiziert. Dabei ist das Potential für Innovationen und Weiterentwicklungen bei digitalen Methoden in der historischen Forschung bereits jetzt erkennbar. Im Arbeitsbereich Digitalität der historischen Forschung am am Leibniz-Institut für Europäische Geschichte (IEG) sollen auf Basis einer Datenkritik und gemäß der guten wissenschaftlichen Praxis sowohl die Potentiale der neuen Technologie als auch die Grenzen ihrer Anwendbarkeit erforscht werden. Das Dokument beschreibt Herausforderungen sowie damit verbundene Ziele und Maßnahmen des Arbeitsbereichs.
