MJFF Data Community Webinar: Networking as a Tool for Career Development

Abstract

Hosted by the Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Data Community of Practice and its Networking and Outreach Task Force, this webinar focuses on networking and career development for up-and-coming scientists. The webinar was given by Dr. Deborah Hall, a neurologist and movement disorder specialist who serves as Division Chief of Section of Movement Disorders, Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Neurological Sciences, as well as the Parkinson’s Foundation Chair of Neurological Sciences at Rush University Medical Center. The Data Community of Practice is an emerging and inclusive community of research data users convened by the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF). Our goal is to support members in more easily working with each other using data that have been generated in the search for a cure, treatments, and interventions for people living with Parkinson’s disease. This community is open to anyone with an interest in conducting research leveraging Parkinson's disease datasets. Community participants are not required to have pre-existing access to data, a specific technical background, or MJFF research funding, nor is participation restricted to a specific data set or type. We are interested in facilitating discussion and collaboration between community members of varying research backgrounds, career stages, and geographic locations by providing a space to connect the global Parkinson’s research community. If this sounds of interest, then this community is for you!
