Analysis of the Current Situation and Influencing Factors of Hypoglycemia Fear in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

Abstract Objective: To investigate the status quo of hypoglycemia fear in type 2 diabetes patients and analyze its influencing factors. Methods: The Random sampling method was used to select 200 patients with type 2 diabetes treated in a third-class hospital in Henan province, using the Chinese version of the Hypoglycemia Fear-Worry Scale to investigate the status quo of hypoglycemic fear in type 2 diabetes patients. Results: The hypoglycemic dread score of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus was (20.85±7.57), univariate and multifactorial results suggested, body mass index, education level, the most recent HBA1c value and the occurrence of hypoglycemia in the last 6 months were the influencing factors of hypoglycemia fear(P<0.05). Conclusions: Type 2 diabetes patient's hypoglycemic fear was at a median level. Medical staff should formulate targeted management strategies according to the specific conditions of patients, intervene the patients' fear of hypoglycemia early, and improve the level of patients' health eventually.
