In this talk, given 21 December 2018 at the in memoriam readings in hounour of Andrej A. Zalizniak, I discuss a number of issues in Russian historical linguistics in the perspective of models proposed by Zalizniak, notably - the templatic principle of clitic-internal ordering and the description of the Nominative with Infinitive Construction. I show that Zalizniak's explanations and his insights find support from historical corpora. The final section of this talk includes a preliminary survey of the frequences of clitics and clitics clusters in the parallel corpora of 'SLOVO O POLKU IGOREVE'.
