Abstract

Green hydrogen (GH) is produced with natural electricity from clean and renewable energy sources, from wind, solar and biomass, so it does not contain and does not emit carbon dioxide, being a promising fuel of great economic and environmental value. This article aims to present green hydrogen investments in the world, mainly in the European Union and China, and Brazil's role in this production chain, discussing its importance as a future sustainable fuel. The proposal is to present GH as a clean fuel which will stimulate the race of the great world powers to adapt to a society with a greener economy by the end of the present decade, in addition to discussing how investments in the production of green hydrogen in Brazil are taking place. The production of GH in Brazil is incipient, being in the design and testing phase as in the Port of Açu (RJ) and Pecém (CE). Brazil presents a potential future exporter profile in the production chain of this fuel, since it is considered the ideal place for its production, due to the ease of use and abundance of renewable sources.
