D4.3.1 Technical requirements for metadata in NFDI4Energy services

Abstract

Metadata is a key cornerstone of research data management. However, the proper use of metadata forboth developers and users is not yet sufficiently developed. This deliverable shall present the currentstate of technical requirements that we encourage as NFDI4Energy. Its goal is to create guidancewithin the energy domain on how to interact with metadata and how to build systems and repositoriesthat handle metadata. We also reflect on these kinds of requirements from other NFDI consortia,to show the similarities and differences that might arise from the different maturity and use casesthroughout the different domains. The presented requirements reflect the state at the publicationdate, but will be further updated and evolved in the GitHub1 repository that serves as a metadatarequirement collection platform (https://github.com/NFDI4Energy/metadata-requirements).The repository is also meant for collecting requirements about metadata modules that are specific tocertain dataset types. This requirement collection process will continue in the community over thenext years. In order to contribute, use the GitHub issues in the repository to make your improvementideas known.
