Abstract

Der erste fotografisch belegte Motorflug der Menschheitsgeschichte findet am 17.12.1903 mit dem Wright Flyer I statt. Ab 1911 werden verschiedene Flugfelder und Seeflugstationen in Hamburg eingerichtet: Wandsbek, Fuhlsbüttel, Övelgönne, Steinwerder, Altona, Wenzendorf und Finkenwerder. Auch Flugzeugbaufirmen entstehen in Hamburg ab 1911: Centrale für Aviatic, Hanseatische Flugzeugwerke und die Caspar Werke. Am 01.02.1922 hebt die Londoner Botschafterkonferenz das generelle Bauverbot für Flugzeuge in Deutschland auf. Paul Wilhelm Bäumer (Flieger im ersten Weltkrieg) gründet die Bäumer Aero GmbH in Hamburg am 07.11.1922. Die Hamburger Pilotin Thea Rasche unternimmt am 23.01.1925 den ersten Alleinflug einer Frau in Deutschland. Sie bleibt durch diverse Luftfahrtaktionen im Gespräch. Am 14.07.1927 stirbt Bäumer bei einem Flugunfall. Die Bäumer Aero wird am 14.10.1932 geschlossen. Entwurfsideen von Bäumer werden bei Heinkel weiter geführt. 1933: Gründung der Hamburger Flugzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH als Tochterunternehmen von Blohm & Voss (Ha). 1938 Umfirmierung in Blohm & Voss, Abteilung Flugzeugbau (BV); dort umfangreicher Bau von Land- und Wasserflugzeugen bis 1945. Nach 1945 findet der Flugzeugbau in der Hamburger Flugzeugbau GmbH (HFB) statt. Dort beginnt dann auch die moderne Erfolgsgeschichte des Flugzeugbaus in Hamburg mit Airbus. Der Erstflug des Airbus A300 fand am 28.10.1972 statt.
