VARIOUS METHODS AND TECHNIQUES FOR INSTRUCTING STUDENTS IN INFORMATIVE LISTENING

Abstract

This article gives information about several approaches and strategies for instructing students in informative listening, which is an essential ability for success in both the classroom and the workplace. The use of guided listening exercises that concentrate on particular details or major ideas, post-listening talks to improve understanding and retention, and pre-listening activities to activate prior knowledge are some of the key tactics covered. The article also emphasises the need of listening for organisational structure, recognising important details, and differentiating between information that is necessary and that is not. Additionally, it emphasises how important it is to provide a listening atmosphere that is encouraging and use technology, like interactive listening platforms, to encourage participation. Key words: pre-listening activities, post-listening activities, note-taking, active listening technique, listening strategies, methods, graphic organizers, video lectures, role-play.
