La efectividad de la tintura de propóleos en la estomatitis aftosa recurrente

Abstract

Introducción: La estomatitis aftosa recurrente es una enfermedad crónica caracterizada por la ulceración de la mucosa bucal no queratinizada, se observa como lesiones únicas o múltiples casi siempre pequeñas, poco profundas, dolorosas, redondas u ovales de color blanco en el centro, bordes enrojecidos, de aparición súbita y de carácter recidivante. Objetivo: Evaluar la efectividad de la tintura de propóleos al 5 % en el tratamiento de pacientes con estomatitis aftosa recurrente de la clínica Artemio Mastrapa del municipio Holguín en el período de diciembre del 2019 a diciembre del 2020. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio no observacional cuasiexperimental, con universo conformado por 54 pacientes, que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión trabajándose con la totalidad. Las variables estudiadas fueron: edad, sexo, tiempo de evolución y evolución del paciente, tipo de estomatitis aftosa y efectividad. Resultados: Predominó el sexo femenino con 35 pacientes (64,81%), el grupo etareo predominante fue 19 a 34 años (33,33%). La forma menor predominó en grupo de estudio (33,33%) y en grupo control (37,04%). Todos los pacientes tratados con medicina natural evolucionaron de manera satisfactoria a los 6 días. Conclusiones: La utilización de la tintura de propóleo al 5% fue efectiva al disminuir la incidencia de la estomatitis aftosa tanto en el grupo estudio como en el grupo control, con un resultado satisfactorio al sexto día en el grupo de pacientes tratados con la medicina natural.

Introduction: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis is a chronic disease characterized by ulceration of the non-keratinized buccal mucosa, observed as single or multiple lesions that are often small, shallow, painful, round or oval, white in the center, with reddened edges, sudden onset and recurrent. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of 5% propolis tincture in the treatment of patients with recurrent aphthous stomatitis, at Artemio Mastrapa clinic in the municipality of Holguín, from December 2019 to December 2020. Methods: A quasi-experimental non-observational study was carried out, with a universe of 54 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, working with all of them. The variables studied were: age, sex, time of evolution and evolution of the patient, type of aphthous stomatitis and effectiveness. Results: Female sex predominated with 35 patients (64.81%), the predominant age group was 19 to 34 years (33.33%). The minor form predominated in the study group (33.33%) and in the control group (37.04%). All patients treated with natural medicine evolved successfully after 6 days. Conclusions: The use of 5% propolis tincture was effective in reducing the incidence of aphthous stomatitis in both the study group and the control group, with a satisfactory result on the sixth day in the group of patients treated with natural medicine.
