Abstract

Il semantic web e la tecnologia dei Linked Open Data implicano un ripensamento dell’attività di catalogazione: musei, archivi e biblioteche sono incentivati a svolgere un ruolo attivo nella definizione del nuovo Web, soprattutto nella redazione di vocabolari e di ontologie di dominio che ne rappresentano la base semantica. In questo quadro di interesse multidisciplinare l’organologia lamenta l’assenza di standard di catalogazione consolidati, e la conseguente compresenza e incompatibilità di sistemi e tecnologie diversi. I Linked Open Data forniscono strumenti per l’armonizzazione di dati eterogenei, garantendo accessibilità a informazioni e risorse tramite strategie di interoperabilità e condivisione. Il progettodi maggior rilievo che implementa i Linked Open Data applicati al patrimonio organologico è MIMO: il presente lavoro ne esamina obiettivi e caratteristiche implementative, quali l'adozione di LIDO e del CIDOC-CRM come modelli per la strutturazione dei metadati. Il nuovo contesto tecnologico è messo a confronto con il modello catalografico elaborato dall'etnomusicologo Febo Guizzi. La tesi, ponendo particolare attenzione alla preservazione delle competenze di dominio, elabora una prima digitalizzazione della "Scheda Guizzi" e restituisce un’analisi dettagliata dei vocabolari relativi al dominio degli strumenti musicali, con attenzione particolare per la Classificazione Hornbostel-Sachs e i thesauri digitalizzati da MIMO con le tecnologie semantiche. Infine redige un corpus di linee-guida per successive implementazioni che, orientate alle tecnologie interoperabili del semantic Web, intendono confluire nell’elaborazione di un’ontologia specifica per il dominio degli strumenti musicali.
