This archaeological survey covered the Pinzgauer Spaziergang, a popular hiking trail from Jochberg (Tyrol) to Zell am See (Salzburg). Geological mapping and remote sensing (LIDAR, orthophotos) helped identify potential sites between Hochkogel (2,249 m) and Rohrertörl (1,919 m). A comparable prehistoric mining area was recently discovered in Jochberg between Gamshag (2,187 m), Gaisstein (2,363 m), and Schusterkogel (2,207 m) (FÖ57, 429-432). In July 2022, field surveys of these sites and GBA-mapped deposits (IRIS) revealed that the identified structures were of natural origin. A previously unrecorded copper deposit was located, but no evidence of mining activity was found.
