The FOCCUS project (https://foccus-project.eu/) aims to enhance coastal ocean observation andforecasting for Copernicus users by designing and implementing a range of high-resolution dataproducts. The work package 2 (WP) focuses on improving pan-European innovative coastal oceanobservations in response to society and EU policy needs in the context of climate change. The data products of innovative coastal observations, summarised in Table 1, will be integrated incoastal modelling and coastal applications work packages to address pressing environmental andsocietal challenges (ESC). This report provides an overview of all data products that are being designed and further developedin all tasks (2.1, 2.2 and 2.3) from WP2 (table 1), comprising operational data products (ODPs) andproof of concept data products (PDPDs) as well as data product validation (DPV) across variousdomains. Notable examples include: Sea level products derived from satellite altimetry, offering valuable insights into coastaldynamics and sea level rise. High-resolution sea surface temperature products are crucial for understanding marineheatwaves and ecosystem health. Innovative products like sea ice change detection and harmful algal bloom probability mapsutilising advanced technologies and machine learning approaches. Data fusion techniques to create comprehensive surface current datasets. Beach monitoring and morphodynamic process products supporting coastal erosionmanagement and resilience planning. Coastal and river data have also been included in sections 2 and 3 of this deliverable. However, detailed inventories will be provided in the D2.3 (to be delivered on the 30th of June 2025). The coastal data inventory will initially include JERICO data and in-situ products of the CopernicusMarine Service, starting with the French coastal data of the ILICO RI. Other EU coastal data forautomatic measurements and physical and biogeochemical parameters will be included. Relevantmetadata will be completed for each platform, including platform type, creator, country,network/RI/programme/project, geographical position, parameter, depth, period. This initialinventory will be reviewed and enhanced by coastal experts and data managers. The river data inventory will include major rivers across different sea basins (e.g. Atlantic OceaBaltic Sea, Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea), data availability, and water discharge levels. It willlist platform name, provider agency, URL (if available), coordinates, latest data and key variables(e.g. flow rate, total suspended matter, nutrients - nitrogen and phosphorus -, sediments). The document is structured to provide a comprehensive overview of coastal data products. Section 2offers an initial list (table 1), expanded upon in later sections. Section 3 gives a brief description ofeach data product, while section 4 delves into methodology, metadata and use cases. The documentemphasises standardised formats (e.g. NetCDF) and comprehensive metadata (Annex I) to facilitatedata integration and sharing. Annex II includes the Key Performance Indicators of this WP to facilitatethe review process. Additionally, a glossary and abbreviations section is included for clarity.
