Abstract: LULÚ, THE COMMUNICATION BARRIER BREAKER Board Game LULÚ, THE COMMUNICATION BARRIER BREAKER is an educational board game designed to promote awareness and understanding of accessibility in climate change communication. The game follows Lulú, a passionate climate activist, as she organizes inclusive and accessible events. Players take on the role of supporters, helping Lulú navigate various challenges related to accessibility in event planning. The game is structured around a board where players roll a dice and move through different spaces that either reward or penalize them based on their knowledge and application of accessibility principles. Players interact with action cards, which present real-world challenges, requiring them to suggest solutions, define accessibility concepts, or complete interactive tasks such as creating inclusive hashtags or describing their surroundings. The game serves both as an engaging activity and a learning tool, integrating universal design principles and fostering discussions about inclusivity. A trainer can guide players, providing explanations and adapting the difficulty level of the action cards. The game also allows customization, enabling facilitators to modify the board and action cards according to specific learning objectives. By encouraging hands-on learning and problem-solving, LULÚ, THE COMMUNICATION BARRIER BREAKER fosters a deeper understanding of accessibility challenges, making it an invaluable resource for educators, activists, and organizations aiming to create more inclusive spaces. The game is developed in collaboration with TransMedia Catalonia, GreenSCENT, and Clear Climate, with funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.
