
Mimusops elengi is a medium-sized evergreen tree native to South and Southeast Asia, renowned for its fragrant flowers and dense foliage, making it a popular ornamental plant in gardens and urban landscapes. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, various parts of the tree, including the bark, leaves, flowers, and fruits, have been utilized in traditional medicine systems. Phytochemical investigations have identified compounds such as triterpenes, alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins, which contribute to its diverse pharmacological activities. Experimental studies have demonstrated that M. elengi exhibits antihyperlipidemic, anti-anxiety, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties, supporting its traditional medicinal uses. This chapter highlights the significance of M. elengi in various aspects.
