This Coffee Lecture was presented on February 10, during Love Data Week 2025. Having researchers as the target group, this presentation gave a brief introduction to data ownership, an overview of relevant intellectual property rights (IPRs), and essential copyright principles and their implication for research in Germany. The contents of the talk were based on the FAIRmat Guide to Legal Aspects in Research Data Management (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.11083303).
