
Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabricius, 1792) Materials examined. Mehedinți County: Izvoru Frumos (near), 43.9355°N / 27.9952°E, 09. VI.2023, sandy area, Cosmin-Ovidiu Manci leg. (1 specimen), COMC. Remarks. Thought to originate from the Indian subcontinent (Edde 2012), it is now a cosmopolitan species (Borowski 2007; Nardi & Mifsud 2015) and one of the most serious pests in grain storage (Javanmard et al. 2023). The species is polyphagous on different grains, including starch-based substrates, and on wood packaging (Hendrival & Aryani 2019). In Romania, it was first recorded in 1975 (Teodorescu et al. 2006).
