Muscle differentiation is a fundamental process for the regeneration of skeletal muscle, especially after injuries or diseases that cause muscle mass loss. Satellite cells, which are responsible for muscle regeneration, are still not fully understood in terms of their activation, proliferation, and differentiation. A key aspect of this process is how transcription factors, such as Pax7, regulate the progression toward the formation of new muscle fibers. In this context, the challenge of the research was to unravel the role of Pax7 in the activation and differentiation of skeletal muscle satellite cells, which could provide new strategies for treating muscle diseases and improving muscle regeneration after injuries.
