Matching Game: Nutrient recycling in aquatic environment vs. daily life recycling

Abstract

Description This ready-to-print game consists of a base board illustrating trash recycling in our daily life, and 5 smaller cards each with an element of the generalised nutrient recycling circle mediated by aquatic fungi. The goal is to match each of the cards to its equivalent on the board by simply place them on top of the board. The global idea of this game is to introduce the idea of nutrient recycling in nature is somewhat comparable with our trash recycling, with matching elements. When using the game, first show and explain the idea to the audiences/participants, then let them play around with the cards (one can guide them during this process, depending on the age/background of the participants). And when all the cards are correctly placed in the board, finalising the play session by going through each step of nutrient recycling with a brief explanation. This game is part of the FUNACTION project, aiming to raise public awareness about aquatic fungi, and their important role in maintaining a healthy aquatic ecosystem.
