Abstract

Twenty years after the celebration of Japan’s dynamic growth, the economy collapsed in the face of the global economic crisis of 1980 and the two oil shocks of 1973 and 1979, undermining the solidity of the Japanese economic system. It was then that the political authorities encouraged containment policies mobilizing financial resources, particularly budgetary, fiscal and social resources, which enabled Japan to resist or adapt to the corrosive effects of the crisis that was eating away at the Japanese economy. The aim of this study is to present a resilient economy and its ability to adapt to the drastic effects of the 1980 economic crisis. The study draws on primary and secondary literature.
