Dealing with Uncertainties in Provenance in the Object Biography

Abstract

Impulse talk “Dealing with Uncertainties in Provenance in the Object Biography” at the workshop “Uncertainties and vagueness in provenance data and their modeling” of the NFDI4Objects Community Cluster Digital Provenance Research. The CIDOC CRM-based data model of the object biography, which is currently under development within NFDI4Objects Task Areas 6, will be presented and the Behaim Globe in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum will be used to illustrate how uncertain and vague information in the provenance of the object is dealt with. The focus on information provenance and its mapping via specific attribute assignments is central to this.

Impulsbeitrag “Dealing with Uncertainties in Provenance in the Object Biography” auf dem Workshop „Unsicherheiten und Vagheiten in Provenienzdaten und ihre Modellierung“ des NFDI4Objects Community Clusters Digitale Provenienzforschung. Dabei wird das in Entwicklung befindliche, CIDOC CRM basierte Datenmodell der Objektbiografie vorgestellt und anhand des Behaim Globus im Germanischen Nationalmuseum veranschaulicht, wie mit unsicheren und vagen Angaben in der Provenienz des Objekts umgegangen wird. Dabei ist der Fokus auf Informationsprovenienz und deren Abbildung über spezifische Merkmalszuweisungen zentral.
