The CoARA Working Group on Reforming Academic Career Assessment (WG ACA) has developed a targeted mapping of initiatives on academic career assessment. These files refer to a collection of case studies, which describe well-established international and national level initiatives for reforming research and academic career assessment. Initiatives included in the case studies collection had an implementation plan targeted to all organisations conducting academic career assessments (recruitment, performance evaluation and/or career progression) within a country (national level) or irrespective of country (international). In addition, public documentation of the initiatives could be in any language, however in the case-study they need to be described in English. A case-study template was used for describing the initiatives in a structured and comparable way. The following 11 case studies are included: Initiative - name: ANECA - Reforming research and academic careers assessment in Spain CLACSO-FOLEC - Declaration of principles: a new research assessment towards a socially relevant science in Latin America and the Caribbean CoARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) DORA - The San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) EU Charter - The European Charter for Researchers Finland - Good practice in researcher evaluation Netherlands - Recognition & Rewards Programme Norway - NOR-CAM – A toolbox for recognition and rewards in academic careers OR4 - Open and Responsible Researcher Reward and Recognition (OR4) UKRI - UKRI People and Teams Action Plan YUFE4Postdocs - YUFE4Postdocs evaluation & selection procedure A list of practical tools, which are part of the 11 initiatives described in the case studies, is also included, together with a summary and analysis of the case studies. Additional related materials include a survey on academic career assessment (zenodo.org/records/14548157) and lessons learned from the case studies and survey (zenodo.org/records/14548106).
