The Harvard Medical School (HMS) Data Management Working Group (DMWG) was established in response to identified unmet needs in biomedical research. One subgroup was created based on interest surrounding interest and use of Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN). The group created a matrix table, comparing and contrasting various ELN options, with the goal to aid researchers in the process of identifying appropriate solutions. We sent a survey to 26 vendors and created a matrix based on the responses. This Electronic Lab Notebook Comparison Matrix serves as an educational tool and decision map for librarians and researchers alike to navigate the growing ELN market. Additionally, the matrix has been recognized around the world on Twitter, Wikipedia, and recently in Nature, aiding the greater community. This poster highlights this recent successful work of this group.
