Abstract

L’article traite des postures argumentatives à l’œuvre dans le titre de l’information médiatique dans la construction d’un discours antiterroriste contre Boko Haram à l’Extrême-Nord du Cameroun. La situation sécuritaire dans cette partie du pays, après une décennie, reste préoccupante, au regard du regain d’activités terroristes. Dans ce contexte, le journal L’Œil du Sahel s’investit davantage dans la guerre idéologique en mettant en œuvre diverses stratégies discursives, surtout au niveau de la titraille. Pour rendre compte de celles-ci, nous avons eu recours à la théorie de l’argumentation. Essentiellement fondé sur le discours de presse, le corpus comprend les parutions de L’Œil du Sahel entre 2018 et 2024, période de recrudescence des attaques terroristes. Les analyses révèlent que les titres se caractérisent par trois principales stratégies argumentatives qui visent à infléchir les représentations et inciter à l’action contre la guerre. Les stratégies de positionnent, notamment à travers le choix lexical, alertent sur l’urgence d’une croisade contre Boko Haram. Tandis que la problématisation met en avant la question de la recrudescence d’attaques terroristes, la rhétorique des indications chiffrées constitue une mise en scène emphatique à visée persuasive.
