"Mapping for Recreation with a Location-Based Game" is a place-based citizen science project co-designed with and for temporarily displaced Ukrainian youth, building upon the Mapping for Recreation (2013). The project aims to gather data on children's perceptions of recreational spaces in their new environments, while fostering place-bonding and supporting the restoration of fundamental needs such as social connections and safety. This initiative is conducted in the Twente region of The Netherlands, led by Dr. Ekaterina Egorova from the University of Twente, and funded by the European IMPETUS project. The accompanying video, produced by Dr. Egorova, showcases the collaborative effort of project participants, bringing their ideas to life. It tells the story of the location-based game "Mission Earth 2024", featuring the quests co-designed and undertaken by participants during the summer 2024 campaign.
