Magnetic susceptibility of whole-round depressurized pressure core samples from the Terrebonne Basin, Walker Ridge 313 Site H, Expedition UT-GOM2-2

Abstract

These data include magnetic susceptibility measurements of conventionalized (depressurized) pressure core whole round core sections using a Geotek standard Multi-Sensor Core Bartington Logger (MSCL-S) MS2C magnetic susceptibility loop sensor and Bartington MS3 magnetic susceptibility meter. Magnetic susceptibility was measured every 1 cm manually along each core section scanner. For more details on the methods, see Expedition UT-GOM2-2 Methods: Conventionalized Pressure Core Logging and Imaging (Flemings et al., 2025a, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13971228). The attached readme file, previewed below, describes the data file in this dataset and its contents. The readme file also contains links to where the data is presented in the expedition proceedings. Additional data you might expect to find in this dataset can instead be found at the following locations: The sample depths can be found in the curation dataset (http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14926309). Download the file UT-GOM2-2 CORE LOG depths – sortable.xlsx, see tab “Section-piece log”, core type “FB” for the Pressure Coring Tool with Ball valve (PCTB) in the face bit configuration, and “CS” for the PCTB in the cutting shoe configuration with core process “Conv.” for conventional core processing or “QD” for quantitative degassing followed by conventional core processing. A summary of all logging and imaging for each core and section type can be found in the core images dataset http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14261688. Core images can also be found in the core images dataset http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14261688. Split core logging of archived halves can be found in the split core logging dataset http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14277995. Processed conventionalized pressure core whole core logging data can be found in Appendix E, of Expedition UT-GOM2-2 Site H (Flemings et al., 2025b, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.13971276).
