Deliverable D7.1 (D15) Report on the functionality and needs to enhance the capacity of the BrightSpace Integrated Modelling Toolbox to better model the EU agricultural just operating space

Abstract

The BrightSpace project is enhancing its tools to better represent the Just Operating Space (JOS)—a framework ensuring agricultural practices are socially equitable. This involves improving existing models, designing new ones, and developing detailed indicators that assess key areas like income distribution, employment, health, and nutrition. The deliverable outlines planned upgrades to the BrightSpace toolbox in three focus areas: (1) fair income distribution and employment opportunities, (2) promoting health and nutrition, and (3) addressing other critical aspects of social equity. It also reviews the latest methods for modeling these indicators, providing a strong foundation for future improvements. By connecting these enhancements to JOS themes identified earlier in the project, BrightSpace aims to deliver tools and insights that drive more inclusive, balanced, and sustainable agricultural policies across Europe.
