La construcción del poder: Estado, Nación e Identidades. La construcción del Estado Nacional en Perú y la marginación política indígena (siglo XIX)

Abstract

Abordar un periodo de transformaciones sustanciales como el siglo XIX y enmarcarlo en un espacio como el continente latinoamericano es enfrentar todas las contradicciones que van de la teorización de los principios a su aplicación práctica. Tan es así que, en el paulatino proceso que discurre del orden colonial al orden republicano, las disparidades existentes entre los diferentes territorios y ámbitos (políticos, económicos, sociales o institucionales) hicieron patente, tanto a nivel continental como regional, la coexistencia de discursos y actitudes contradictorias. Muestra válida de todo ello sería la evolución política del Perú, donde las primeras décadas republicanas acabaron reflejando tales contradicciones en la proclamación de lemas de equidad y libertad (típicos, por otra parte, del liberalismo decimonónico) y la restricción de su aplicación a un porcentaje mínimo de la población, la acorde a determinados criterios biológicos, sin ajustarse en absoluto a los teoremas propugnados. Sobre la dinámica del poder, la creación de un Estado-Nación como el peruano y la marginación de la mayoría indígena en este último proceso versa esta obra.
