Dilemas Éticos nos Cuidados a Pacientes Idosos em Cuidados Paliativos

Abstract

Os cuidados paliativos são essenciais para a melhora da qualidade de vida de pacientes com doenças crônicas ou que estão no fim de suas vidas. Onde é ofertado tratamento para contribuir na qualidade de vida, amenizar os sintomas, dor e também oferecer apoio emocional. No caso de pacientes idosos, essa prática é repleta de dilemas éticos que envolvem a autonomia, a qualidade de vida, o uso de medidas paliativas e a tomada de decisões de fim de vida. Os enfermeiros são de extrema importância na administração desses dilemas, onde mediam os direitos dos pacientes, as preferências familiares e responsabilidades clínicas. Este resumo expandido questiona os principais dilemas éticos nos cuidados paliativos de idosos, ressaltando questões como a autonomia, cuidados paliativos, ortotanásia e o conflito entre a equipe de saúde e a família. Veremos que os dilemas éticos demandam uma abordagem cuidadosa e sensível, que priorize o bem-estar do paciente, respeitando suas escolhas e interesses, possibilitando um ambiente seguro e confortável e ainda lidando com as dificuldades que envolve o processo de morrer.
