Abstract

This article addresses accessibility and inclusion in the Brazilian musical environment, focusing on the Orquestra Brasileira de Cantores Cegos. Based on an analysis of Article 5 of the Brazilian Constitution (BRASIL, 1988) and the Brazilian Inclusion Law (LBI, BRASIL, 2015), which ensure equal rights for people with disabilities, the study highlights the gap between the rights provided by law and the reality faced in the artistic and cultural scene. The Orquestra Brasileira de Cantores Cegos is a pioneer in the state of Espírito Santo, promoting the inclusion of blind singers in musical, theatrical, and dance contexts. The performances are conceived and adapted to ensure accessibility for both artists and audiences, incorporating audio description, sign language interpreters, and specific measures for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders. The article is built through an experience report (Mussi et al., 2020) and interviews (Medina, 1995) with participants. It aims to encourage reflection on the challenges faced by blind artists and the significance of inclusive initiatives in the artistic field.
