Quatro Momentos Musicais (1997) para piano solo de Oiliam Lanna: dados históricos e análise da obra

Abstract

Produced by the CNPq research group “Piano works by composers from Minas Gerais from the 20th century”, this article presents an analysis, preceded by historical data, of the work Quatro Momentos Musicais, by the composer, conductor, pianist and professor at the UFMG School of Music Oiliam Lanna (1953), of which biographical data are given. Written for the piano, the work discussed here reveals a diverse writing, with idiomatic treatment of the instrument, having been the subject of performances and recordings. As methodological support, an interview given by the composer to the authors and, specifically for the analysis, the book Guideline for Style Analysis (1992) by Jan LaRue were used. Accompanying this study is the score of the Quatro Momentos Musicais, provided by the composer himself, and a live recording of the work made by one of the authors of this text, available for viewing using an access QR Code.
