In this presentation, Dr David Poger describes the concept of persistent identifier (PID) and its use cases in research. The Australian National PID Strategy and Roadmap that was initiatiated in 2023 by the Australia Research Data Commons (ARDC) in partnership with the Australian Access Federation (AAF) is introduced. The PID strategy and roadmap developed by Microscopy Australia in this national context is also presented. The presentation was given at the foundingGIDE Community Meeting in Okazaki, Japan (31 October–01 November 2024). foundingGIDE: founding a Global Imaging Data Ecosystem is a EU Horizon-funded project between Euro-BioImaging ERIC, EMBL-EBI, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (Italy), German BioImaging, Global BioImaging, RIKEN (Japan), Microsocpy Australia and Australian National Imaging Facility. | selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
