PRUK UKDS: Skills Development for Managing Longitudinal Data for Sharing - Society for Longitudinal and Life Course Studies Poster

Abstract

This record contains the poster presented at the Society for Longitudinal and Life Course Studies (SLLS) Conference 2024, showcasing the PRUK UKDS Skills Development for Managing Longitudinal Data for Sharing Project. The poster highlights the project's goals, methodology, and key findings to date, focusing on enhancing data management practices within the Longitudinal Population Studies (LPS) community. Aim: To increase skills and expertise in data management and sharing within the LPS community, supporting both social and biomedical sciences. Approach: A stakeholder-driven process including surveys, workshops, and iterative development of training materials, informed by continuous feedback. Findings: Identified critical training needs in areas such as metadata, documentation, data cleaning and ethics. Future directions: Plans for advanced training workshops, publication of materials under open licences, and a comprehensive final report to guide future initiatives. This project was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Medical Research Council (MRC), part of an initial Population Research UK (PRUK) development phase. This poster underscores the importance of a collaborative, stakeholder-informed approach to improving data management skills and practices in the LPS community.
