Percepción de la imagen corporal y su relación con el riesgo de desarrollo de trastornos de la alimentación en estudiantes universitarios de la Licenciatura de Nutrición

Abstract

Los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA) representan un grupo de enfermedades complejas y serias que combinan percepciones negativas sobre la alimentación, el peso y la forma corporal, junto con conductas perjudiciales como la restricción alimentaria, los atracones, el uso de laxantes, el vómito autoinducido y el ejercicio excesivo Métodos: La población estuvo constituida por 338 estudiantes de diferentes universidades de educación superior, las cuales ofertan la licenciatura en nutrición. La muestra fue determinada a través de un muestreo no probabilístico a conveniencia, resultando en 313 participantes después de aplicar los criterios de selección. El instrumento aplicado consistió en recabar datos para la estadística descriptiva, como la edad y el sexo del participante, posteriormente fue aplicado el test EAT-26. De igual forma se aplicó el Test de Autopercepción de la Imagen Corporal modificado por Collins. Resultados: La participación total fue de 313 sujetos, el análisis del primer instrumento aplicado que fue el cuestionario EAT-26 indicó que el 48.36% (n=152) de los encuestados no tiene riesgo de desarrollar algún trastorno de la conducta alimentaria (TCA), mientras que el 51.4% (n=161) si tiene riesgo de desarrollarlo. La relación de variables se obtuvo mediante la prueba estadística Chi-cuadrado de Pearson, resultando un valor de p de 0.005. Conclusión: este estudio aporta evidencia sobre la relación entre la autopercepción de la imagen corporal y el riesgo de desarrollar TCA en estudiantes de educación superior. Los resultados indican que una autopercepción distorsionada, especialmente hacia el sobrepeso, está asociada con una mayor probabilidad de desarrollar trastornos alimentarios.
