Creating Community-Driven Pathways to Equitable Open Scholarly Publishing - Leading the Way

Abstract

Presentation slides from CRAFT-OA, DIAMAS, and PALOMERA joint project webinar (06/11/24). The recording is available on YouTube here. Three projects. Over 40 partners. One goal: Community-Led Open Scholarly Publishing. After the first two webinars that marked the start of this cross-project collaboration between three EU-funded projects, CRAFT OA, DIAMAS and PALOMERA, we had the opportunity to hear how the projects lead the way towards an equitable, community-led open scholarly publishing ecosystem. CRAFT-OA empowers regional journal platforms and publishing service providers to upscale, professionalise, and reach stronger interoperability with other scientific information systems, by providing services and tools. They presented the newly published “Report on Challenges and Help Measures Faced by OA Journals and Platforms” as well as gave a peek at the “Diamond Discovery Hub”. DIAMAS develops common standards, guidelines and practices to build capacity for the Diamond publishing sector. They presented new findings from a large study conducted across Europe, which sheds light on the operations of Diamond publishers and builds a case for how they can be supported to advance Open Science. PALOMERA sets out to provide actionable recommendations and concrete resources to support and coordinate aligned funder and institutional policies for Open Access books. They presented information about the OA book policies data collected and incorporated in the Knowledge Base as well as how is this data being validated by the community.
