III CONGRESO INTERNACIONAL VIRTUAL DE EDUCACIÓN

Abstract

Once again, we find ourselves gathered for the fourth edition of our International Virtual Congress of Education, under the theme: "Pedagogical challenges and political commitments for the construction and appropriation of knowledge in Latin America," reclaiming the fabric as a symbol of unity to build from diversity a research perspective that upholds Latin American identity. The political commitment of the IV CIVE was to weave together various contemporary concepts with pedagogy as the central term: artificial intelligence, social appropriation of knowledge, the media, mental health, interculturality, and the relevance of different teaching and learning modalities. The IV CIVE was a space that generated reflections on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its use in education in the Latin American context. Undoubtedly, AI offers opportunities to address transversal skills in the classroom, to promote the teaching and learning of sciences, the use of technology with Arduino, as well as humanization and reflections on the subject and presence from a Foucauldian philosophy. In contrast, there are serious difficulties that hinder the use of AI in schools in Latin America; starting with the lack of internet connectivity in our territories, very diffuse connections with the use of other Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and little management of public policies by governments regarding the use and application of AI in schools and universities.
