Abstract

Margarete Goldschmidt (verh. Budde; 1883-1967) gehörte zu den Pionierinnen der Bildhauerei und Porträtplastik und schuf mindestens 90 Kunstwerke. Darunter befanden sich viele Porträtbüsten von Gelehrten, aber auch Medaillen und Plaketten. Werner Budde (1886-1960) wirkte als Universitätsprofessor und Chirurg an der Universitätsklinik in Halle (Saale). Während des Nationalsozialismus wurde das Ehepaar diskriminiert und verfolgt. In Anerkennung ihres gemeinsamen Wirkens wurde das Grab auf dem Laurentiusfriedhof im Jahr 2024 zur Ehrengrabstätte ernannt.

Margarete Goldschmidt (married name Budde; 1883-1967) was a pioneer in the field of sculpture and portrait sculpture, creating at least 90 works of art. These included many portrait busts of scholars, as well as medals and plaques. Werner Budde (1886-1960) worked as a university professor and surgeon at the university hospital in Halle (Saale). During the Nazi era, the couple were discriminated against and persecuted. In recognition of their joint work, the grave at the Laurentiusfriedhof was designated a grave of honour in 2024.
