As Europe strives towards its Digital Decade targets for 2030, robotics is set to play a pivotal role in transforming key sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and mobility. Robotics represents a core enabler of Europe’s broader industrial and digital transformation strategies and the integration of robotics within smart cities, hospitals, and manufacturing ecosystems demands comprehensive and forward-looking standards that ensure safety, interoperability, and regulatory compliance. This report produced by the StandICT.eu Technical Working Group (TWG) on robotics provides an updated overview of standards for three critical robotics applications: Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), ICT Networks, and Medical Robotics. These areas have strategic importance but are also affected by several standardisation gaps. As Europe advances in these sectors, the need for harmonised standards becomes ever more pressing to safeguard citizens, foster innovation, and strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in the global market.
