Effects of human pressures on the ecological functioning of mountain rivers

Abstract

This presentation highlights the results of recent researches carried out in Picos de Europa National Park by the Freshwater Ecosystems group of IHCantabria. Specifically, it presents the main results of two studies focused on river metabolism: 1) A long-term tendency analyis to assess the effects of climate change comprising 10 year of data collected in 13 sites and 2) a control-impact study to assess the impacts of the hydropower facilities installed in the National Park.
